lisa-fenwickParticipant
I can get my Camac Atlantide into my husband’s Outback but it is a tight fit. We tried it in a Forester -do not remember the year and it would not fit but we are looking at Forester for my cello playing son because it is a great car. I would take my harp to the dealer and try it before you buy.
lisa-fenwickParticipantI believe it is from the At the Opera with Flute, Cello and Intermediate Pedal Harp book arr. by Joyce Weaver. It is very playable. I often use this book to perform with a cellist and violinist. Very playable.
lisa-fenwickParticipantThank you all. Rehearsal went fine. Really appreciate all of your help.
lisa-fenwickParticipantWork on the other hand. Do a lot of listening to harp recordings. Do some theory work. Don’t rush what the doctor says with regard to his broken wrist. Make sure he listens to his body when he starts using that hand again. If it hurts it is time to rest it.
lisa-fenwickParticipantThanks Sylvia, I am back to playing the octaves. I still think it is hard to play fast!
lisa-fenwickParticipantI would say go buy some fun music you have always wanted to play. Maybe not the next hardest piece but something fun. Find someone like a flutist or violinist to play some music with. Maybe listen to recordings of harpists who play in a different style. I had a little period like this and learned a bunch of pop music/Broadway music and some classical transcriptions I had always wanted to play. It made me feel motivate to work on some harder music taking a little break from more serious classical things.
lisa-fenwickParticipantKay, Sorry. I meant music, not musicians.
lisa-fenwickParticipantKay, I used to play that version and a lot of other Daniel Burton musicians well. I also have played the Frihou version but now I am playing Rhett Barnwell’s arrangement and like it and find it very playable. I decided for a lot of of the Burton arrangements I needed bigger hands than I have and for me they are not always comfortable to play. I also used to play Burton’s FInlandia but now play Rhett Barnwell’s version of that as well. I am not sure why it seems easier to me but it does.
lisa-fenwickParticipantI had a gig a couple of years ago at an adult home during the Thanksgiving Holidays and a women who seemed to be a grown daughter visiting her mother in the home said to me before I played: “Do not point that thing at me. I have a headache and simply cannot take it.” That thing was a pedal harp. The rest of the audience seemed to really enjoy. Sigh. I do not even think I had my amp and if I did I assure you it was not heavy metal I was playing. On another note, David Ice. I really like your arrangements. Your arrangement of Fields of Gold is one of my favorites. Hope you will do some more.
lisa-fenwickParticipantIt is in Book #1 of the Unforgettable Theatre Treasures book by Angi Bemiss and is very playable.
lisa-fenwickParticipantSasha, When I said so far he is really happy it is just that he is only in his first semester. We are in full support of his decision but we have also let him know we are in full support of whatever he wants to do.
lisa-fenwickParticipantSasha, Having been a music major myself and having just sent my older kid to college for music this year and
lisa-fenwickParticipantSherj, If you are looking for images of simple harps Google clip art- harps. I think you are looking for actual cakes.
Have you thought about a photo cake with a harp on it?
We did this for son’s senior recital with a picture of him when he was 4 years old
