Thank you Susan, Nicole, and Laura for your replies. It is unfortunate that Charlotte is so far away; it sounds like Ms. Bartlett is a great teacher!

Hopefully I will be able to get in touch with Laura Byrne for her advice. Again, I appreciate the responses.

    Sincerely,

Thank you, but I am located in Dunn (between Raleigh and Fayetteville), so I am looking for something closer. Thanks though.

Thank you both for your quick responses! I do play the pedal harp, so I think I will go for Eleanor Fell’s arrangement. Again, I appreciate the help.

I believe they are just L&H levers. The harp is 10 years old, and these are the original levers.

    Thanks.

    Catherine,

They are metal levers. I noticed that if I press the string above the lever, then the sound is much better. I’m assuming that the lever itself is somehow causing the buzz.

I appreciate everyone’s responses. A special thanks to Barbara Brundage for her helpful information—thanks for writing all that out!

I ordered Kim Robertson’s Celtic Christmas and Dewey Owens’ Noel!Noel! from Melody’s Traditional Music and Harp Shoppe. They were also very helpful.

    Happy Harping!

Thanks for all your responses and congrats. My dad contacted Lyon and Healy about gut strings, and they told him that gut strings will cause serious damage to the Troub because of gut’s high tension. So, we’re going with nylon and wire instead.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I’m sure I’ll make another trip up to the VA harp center eventually—maybe when I save up some more money.

    Again, thanks and happy harping!
