You’re not a Debbie-Downer, I completely understand. At least my Suite of Dances has the notation, and I know Salzedo is very specific with what he wants.

They’re in measure 3 and 11. (counting the pickup measure of rest as measure 1)
The one in 11 is placed over a gliss, this is in 3.

Yes that’s the one! I use the Sarah Bullen “Principal Harp” edition and they use the 1234321. It makes sense but It’ just getting my hand used to the turn (I really want to repeat that bottom note!) I used the “Add-A-Note” to get used to going up, so I was wondering if there was some kind of technique to help get the turn. Thank You So Much 😀

It happens so much more! I remember my first gig with my Harp Ensemble a woman actually leaned on my teacher’s soundboard, drink in hand, like it was just a chair! So my teacher gave her a quick elbow when she was playing so the woman left. I think that was the worst one, but some people just walk up and touch the strings or the column and it drives me crazy!

What I consider my first solo performance was at Lincoln Center at a workshop for Opera is Instrumental. We were playing excerpts from Donizetti’s Elixir of Love. I was a senior in High School, and my one song in about an hour of music was the Una Furtiva Lagrima aria. It went really well, except in the first rehearsal the conductor sang the vocal line because of all the rubato and would drop out and come back in other areas so I got so lost the first time I played it! lol

My music stand is all review right now, trying to figure out what to start new! I was hoping to start the Handel Concerto in B-flat, and was hoping someone could give me advice wether the Salzedo or the Grandjany version would be more worthwhile. My teacher is a Die-hard Grandjany style harpist, so I know which way he’d lean, but I was hoping to get some other opinions 🙂

    Hi Christine!!

I’m 17 from New York, I’ve been playing harp for about 4 years now and actually because my High School started a harp ensemble my freshman year, so there’s actually about 7 of us right in one school!! What’s your email, love to keep in touch with other harp players, especially from other countries!

    Joe
