MemberThat’s awesome. So far I’ve just been writing lever changes in as text ie. Fn3 but this will help a ton! The brackets look great too! I tried looking through the MuScore forums but there wasn’t anything there.

MemberHi Jodi!
Have you tried any Joyce Rice? Her pieces range a bit in difficulty but they have some fun harmonies and sometimes some rhythmic elements.

MemberI really like Beth Kolle’s books as well. Check out Melody’s music for probably the largest selection of celtic music and music for lever harp

MemberI’m pretty sure there’s an arrangement in the Brock Wedding book. It’s not for solo harp though. It’s for flute and harp.

MemberBrook Boddie that posts here frequently also has some original pieces out. i think he has a new one coming soon. I’ve heard them on youtube and they’re lovely.

MemberGreat Suggestions! I’ve been in kid of a rut so looking forward to something new.
Tacye, which pieces by Andres do you suggest? I had a book once but it was for beginners and super, super basic.
Andelin, I enjoy all sorts of genres. I enjoy upbeat and rhythmic but also dreamy and ethereal. I love extended harmonies and modes

MemberI agree that Ms. Brundage does excellent work. However, my shelves are full of arrangements of classical, pop, etc. I’m looking for works composed especially for lever harp and what people have liked and what didn’t work so well for them.

MemberI tried one when they were brand new. I like the 36 strings in such a compact package. I preferred the sound of an unpainted harp with flourocarbon strings. The pins are made of aluminum to keep the weight down so some people have had trouble with bent pins.

MemberSounds like her own arrangement. There’s an arrangement in Sylvia Woods Groovy Songs of the 60s

MemberAre you familiar with Joyce Rice’s work? While none are too difficult, the Pieces in the Contemporary Collections do range in skill level and do some really fun and varied things with levers.

MemberYikes. Glad everyone was safe!

MemberThe lightest weight music stand I own is the Peak folding stand. It’s made of PVC or something and is very lightweight. However, it doesn’t fold very small. It does have it’s own carrying bag. My I have a heavy duty wire stand that folds pretty small but it is quite a bit heavier. I don’t remember the brand. K & M maybe?

MemberThank you Sid and Saul for weighing in! Unfortunately, as there are different expectations for male and female harpists, I think it is appropriate to ask so it’s really important to me to hear your expectations. My friends and I have also discussed the differences in expectations for coffee shop gigs such as we have been doing and a formal concert setting. As I tend to think of Saul as a high caliber, concert performer, it is important for me to hear his experiences as well.
In looking at photos from my last few performances, I think much would be improved by looking up from the music once in a while so that will be my first goal 🙂
