Hello hearpe, I have only heard of detuning if you are flying and only then on high tension instruments. Perhaps someone else can tell you. I have never detuned my harps before when moving, but then I have never flown with them either.
Thank you Gretchen, you make a good point about the repairs vs. cover protection. I will definitely post an ad for some covers.
KatherynParticipantFour seasons looks awesome, have you tried their pedal harp cover? It is much more affordable than the L&H one… Thank you for the recommendations!
KatherynParticipantThat’s what I was thinking. I know its not a terrible winter here, but I want to be safe. Thank you for the input!
KatherynKatherynParticipantI have had a few different stands over the years, I ended up defaulting to a manhasset orchestra stand, it takes up a lot of room in the car because it does not fold, but it has never failed me! Just don’t let your orchestra take it on accident, I ended up with quite a search after one concert!
KatherynParticipantNo, those aren’t the ones. Here is a photo of one of their harps.
June 22, 2012 at 11:01 pm in reply to: I would really love to play the harp, but I’m 24. Is that too late? #155070KatherynParticipantI know of at least 6 people that have started playing the harp after the age of 38, you are not too old!!
KatherynParticipantFire Dance by Watkins and the 4 Preludes by Tournier. Love the Preludes a lot. Tournier is awesome!
KatherynParticipantMy teacher once forgot her harp! I couldn’t believe it when she told me.
KatherynParticipantThat same day I got lost and the performance I was on my way to had to be postponed a half hour just because of me! I think I am over it now. I am happy now because mom got me a new book that day also. Thank goodness for moms!
KatherynParticipantWell I happen to be a 17 year old and use sticky notes all the time! Anyway it was a bad day and everything is back to normal thank goodness!
KatherynParticipantAwesome advice Kreig! I found out the performance is the same day as my SAT so I’m not doing it. I will remember this info
KatherynParticipantSo is the Pines of Rome really hard? I was just asked to play it and am looking into it. Would it be considered a professional harpist level? The day of the performance is the same week of my SAT test and a wedding gig that I have. Is it worth it?
KatherynParticipantDepends on what you are using recordings for. I record for personal enjoyment and I also record pratices, duets, etc. If you are making CDs what I have wouldn’t be good enough. I have a zoom h2 recorder.
KatherynParticipantCongratulations on your new Dusty!! The sound is just amazing and I won’t want any other kind of lever harp sound.
KatherynParticipantO my gosh!!! I already have a hard time wanting to move my own pedal harp even though I’ve done it so many times, that was amazing! My heart is still racing for her!
