Hi Elizabeth,
I have had to explore this due to learning baroque triple harp, which is usually tuned to 1/4 or 1/6 comma Meantone. I have used several apps – Cleartune offers this option, but I’ve been told it will go away soon, and a friend told me there’s a new app called Tunable (pink icon). I downloaded it yesterday but haven’t had a chance to use it much yet. It’s a place to start, anyway. One thing about using apps, though, is that I have found that it isn’t easy to tune in noisy environments. If you come up with a good solution to that, please let me know! Oh, and one other thing – in Meantone, there are no enharmonic notes – for instance, a D# does not equal E-flat, there is a difference in pitch of couple of commas. To have a better understanding of these issues, I can recommend a book called “How Equal Temperament Ruined Harmony (and Why You Should Care)” by Ross Duffin. I’m not sure why Adams would have specified “E” Meantone…my understanding is that Meantone is Meantone.“Simply the Best” Book 2, Unforgettable Theater Treasures by Angi Bemiss

Thanks, but since I am not the music director, unfortunately the instrumentation choices are beyond my control. He wants solo harp accompaniment. I am wondering if anyone out there has played this piece and can offer suggestions.
Well, in retrospect, I wish I had used a throw-away copy. I made a copy of the final product just so I would have a record, and in case I should ever need it again. I would have wanted, in this case, to send the part back with edits. I don’t know who will end up with the part, or if it will be erased, but if there is a chance I could help/warn the next harpist, I wanted to pass the info along.
Thanks, everyone, I really appreciate the moral support. In the end, I resorted to massive editing. We had dress rehearsal this morning and I managed all but 2 “spots.” I finally got a chance to see the conductor’s score and made a bunch of markings which will hopefully keep me from missing my final lick in the fast movement with all the meter changes. Now that I have worked out a solution that I can actually almost play, I don’t want to MISS IT!!! By golly.
I really need to learn how to use music software, thanks for the suggestion. The part is now pretty illegible, but at least I am used to it…

PS – I am making a note, on the front of the harp part, that the piece will require several months to learn and will require extensive editing. I also marked approximate tempi for all movements. If no one erases it, that should at least help the next harpist….

I will have to check my records to see when I signed up. It has been a while. I think it was in the fall. I checked back in with Jean after the holidays and she said it would be “soon,” or some such thing. Drat!
Well, thanks for posting this. I will write to Jean again and see if I get anything.I do not have anything installed in my harp, was looking for suggestions as to what I would need. I am waiting to hear what the restaurant has for a plug-in. Probably a 1/4″ jack.
