Dianne, you may like to look at the Simply the Harp website, Angi Bemiss in Atlanta, Georgia. She has many simple arrangements that can be improvised on and added to. There are also lead sheets and fake-book versions as well. Enjoy!

I think the Salvi concert grand harps are very similar to your L&H 85CG, both in size and the curvature of their necks. The Salvi transport covers and base covers should fit your harp. Camac harps are enough different, I would not trust that their covers would fit your L&H. I do love my Camac Atlantide Prestige, AND her nice transport cover set!

Many years ago when I bought my first pedal harp, I was in your same situation. My sweet wife and I had to carry that heavy harp up and down our front steps to put it in our car. My father-in-law asked us “don’t they have an easier way to transport a harp?” We replied, “yes, but a harp cart is very expensive!” That was in November that year. For Christmas, we got a wonderful harp cart from my wife’s sweet parents, and we have used it for all these years!

I have been away from these forums for several days, and just now saw your nice posts. I am so glad to know that your beautiful harp “Lily White” is giving you so much pleasure. You must feel exactly like I do about my Cherie and Angelica harps. They are my “forever harps,” and I would not be as happy with any others.
Gregg, that was so nice of you to remember that our Lily was looking for a white harp. Like she said, I bet your collection keeps growing!

BalfourI liked to actually mingle with my audience before I performed, talking with them and getting to know them. That made me feel comfortable with them and kept me from becoming nervous, fretting about the music by myself before the performance. It gave me something else to think about, especially since folks would start to arrive 30 minutes early!
Depending on the venue, this might not always be possible. But whenever I could get out there among the people, I always felt much better. I always tried to raise their life-energy and make them feel better as a result of hearing me perform.

Thanks so much for posting the above information and your testimony about how wonderful the new nylgut NGH strings are on a lever harp! Since I started this thread, I say “thanks” to all who have posted here. There is plenty of information right here for anyone brave enough to try these superb strings on a lever harp, or a pedal harp.
My experience with the nylgut on the top 16 strings of my Camac Atlantide Prestige concert grand pedal harp has been THE BEST! Since Dec. 2023, only ONE of those strings has broken; I think it was because I kinked up the knot on the little wooden dowel anchor. I replaced that top 0G more than a year ago, and the new one is still on the harp. So if you use my scale of string gauges which I posted earlier in this column, you should have the same success with the longevity of these strings. Your harp might need some minute regulating, of course, so it would be better to change strings before your normal regulation.

BalfourThanks, Harp Column staff, for sorting this out. The only thing missing here is Mark’s last post, so maybe he will put it up here again. It sounded like he has had great success with the New Nylgut strings on his Dusty 36 string lever harp.

BalfourCharles, that all sounds very logical to me. I, too, had wondered about the Salvi Ana being offered in lever and pedal gut options. If the lever version is indeed built for less tension, and then someone unknowingly put pedal tension strings on it, I wonder if it would pull the harp apart!
My heart goes out to you. Maybe some other harpists here will have some ideas to help you. Have a great day!
Update: my new nylgut strings (the top 16 strings of the harp) are still doing great on my pedal harp! They have been on the harp since Dec. 2023 and still sound just as beautiful as when I put them on, like real gut. Only the top G has broken in all of that time. I am very pleased with them. They match the tone and feel of the real gut Premier strings perfectly!

BalfourIf the strings have been stored in a dry place, they may be in really good condition. All you can do is try them as you need them on the harp. You seem to have nothing to lose!
