I have never heard that Salvi levers have any tendency to snap or break. This harp was probably knocked over, or otherwise mistreated, to break and bend those levers. If you can get levers like the originals, and if you like their tone and throw, it would certainly be easier to just replace the damaged ones. Good luck with refinishing and refurbishing this harp. By the way, if I were replaceing ALL the levers, I would use Camac (French) levers, and they have a “gold” colored option. My Dusty Strings FH36S has a full set of Camac levers, and they are great!
That is good to hear Joelle! Did you have some fun trying the harp in the car before you bought the car? When we buy a new car, we always take the concert harp’s transport covers to check out the fit before signing the final papers. It is much easier than taking the big concert grand harp, ha, ha! Carl, why I save everything! I just found what appears to be your harp cart in an old Practical Harpist’s Guide from Harp Column (2006). It says it is an Easy Rider Harp Dolly. 2006 price was $235. weight 22 lbs. availabe from the Mina-Helwig Company 858-457-9738. I have not had time to search yet on the Internet, but you can do that. Thanks so much for your kind words, Catherine. I’m so glad you got it to work! I am old-fashioned and like mechanical things better myself. The modern electronic “toys” don’t always work the same way every time, and it can be frustrating. A single short “glitch” in the power supply can totally derail an electronic appliance, unlike the old electric-mechanical ones we had in the past. One of my “favorites” is having to totally reset clocks after a bleep in the power!

BalfourI don’t see how a double-strung would increase your choice of literature–the 22 string range is very limited and double strings would not increase that range. There are folks on here who love small harps, so I hope they will respond. I am a “large harp” harpist, ha, ha! Best wishes!
