New piece for harp

March 23, 2014

—by Elisabeth Plank

It is always very exciting to be the first one to play a piece..

The “Sonatine für Harfe” was written for me by Austrian composer and pianist Andreas Wykydal, the occasion being my solo-debut in London in January 2014.
I was surprised how well he understood the harp , its sound, …
and very pleased with the outcome.

The composer about is work: “The “Sonatine für Harfe” has been composed in November 2013 and was inspired by Elisabeth Plank. It was very important for me to find a generally understandable tone language which accents the very special soundscape of the harp.
In this composition I tried to combine old musical forms with the musical language of the 20th century. Maybe it’s a way to compose at the beginning of the 21st century.”
