Canadian actor, artist, and writer Rajiv Surendra recently toured Lyon & Healy’s Chicago factory to create a video about harpmaking for HGTV Handmade’s YouTube channel. The video explores each step of harp assembly: building a harp’s body and soundboard, carving and gilding a harp’s column and feet, assembling the mechanical action, finishing the wood, fitting the large pieces of a harp together, and adding strings. At the end is a performance by harpist Caroline Cole on a Lyon & Healy instrument.
