Lyon & Healy Harps has announced the jury for the 2022 Lyon & Healy Awards, to be held March 9-11, 2022, at Lyon & Healy Hall in Chicago. The jury members are Jacquelyn Bartlett, Agnès Clément, and June Han.
Jacquelyn Bartlett, co-founder and artistic director of the NC Harp Ensemble, is the harp department chair at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Bartlett is an honors graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy and Oberlin Conservatory of Music. She has toured extensively as a soloist and chamber musician and performed with many of the leading orchestras in the United States.
Agnès Clément is harp teacher at the Royal Conservatorium of Brussels and harpist of La Monnaie Symphonic Orchestra. The French harpist was first prize winner of the ARD International Competition (2016) and gold medalist of the USA International Harp Competition (2010). Clément holds master’s degrees in harp and bassoon from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon.
June Han, an active soloist, orchestral player, and chamber musician, has collaborated with orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout the United States and Europe. She serves on the faculties of Yale School of Music, Columbia University, the Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division, and the Bowdoin International Music Festival. Han holds a Premier Prix for harp and chamber music from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, a Master of Music degree and Artist Diploma from the Yale School of Music, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Juilliard School.
The jury will award three winners. Each winner will receive $2,000 cash and a $500 Lyon & Healy gift certificate. Each competitor will perform Franz Liszt’s Un Sospiro and their choice of either Manuel de Falla’s “Spanish Dance No. 1” from the opera La Vida Breve or Carlos Salzedo’s Jeux d’eau. The winners and participants will be recognized on Friday March 11 with a ceremony also held at Lyon & Healy Hall.
