First International Swiss Harp Competition announces details

The First International Swiss Harp Competition Lira Helvetia is taking place Sept. 1–3 as part of the third Harp Festival Zurich. Organized by a board including Alexander Boldachev and Polina Skryabina, the competition is open to young harpists ages 6 to 16 performing a free-choice program. Applications are due July 15. Competition partners include Musik Hug, Musica Nova, and the new Zurich harp class in the Zakhar Bron School of Music.

The organizers will also hold the Swiss Summer Harp Academy July 31–Aug. 7 to help young harpists prepare for the competition. Based in a chalet near the lake in Freiburg, the Academy will include two concerts, five lessons, chamber music, lectures, and fully covered meals and accommodation.
