Edinburgh Harp Festival Announces Lineup

Elinor Bennett will represent the "featured Celtic nation of Wales" at the 2016 Edinburgh International Harp Festival.

The Edinburgh International Harp Festival has announced the lineup for its annual festival, which takes place April 1-6, 2016. The event, founded in 1982, is sponsored by the Edinburgh branch of The Clarsach Society and includes workshops and concerts throughout the week at Merchiston Castle School, in Edinburgh, featuring predominantly Celtic harpists. The 2016 festival includes “39 courses, 19 workshops, and 9 concerts,” according to festival coordinator Mary Scott. “This year’s featured Celtic Nation is Wales,” says Scott in her open letter to festival-goers. Concerts will “showcase some of their finest players, including Elinor Bennett our distinguished guest.”

Other featured harpists include Robin Huw Bowen, Cheyenne Brown, Rachel Hair, Corrina Hewat, Vicente La Camera Mariño, Mary Macmaster, Catriona McKay, Sirin Pancaroglu, Park Stickney, Anne-Marie O’Farrell, Adriano Sangineto, and many others. For a complete list of festival presenters, performers, and schedule, visit harpfestival.co.uk.
