Camac Harps will launch the fifth season of its online concert series Les Jeudis de la Harpe on May 5. The free concerts will be livestreamed on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. CET on Camac’s YouTube channel, and will remain online for audiences in other time zones. The concert series will run from May until mid-July.

Jakez François, president of Camac Harps, says that the fifth season of concerts will introduce a new twist. “Happily, many artists can now return to live concerts, but there are still global restrictions on travel,” François says. “I wanted to do something to help, so Les Jeudis de la Harpe are going on tour…virtually!” Instead of all concerts being filmed at Camac’s home in Paris, artists from all over the world will be broadcasting from their own countries. From Brazil to China, Japan to Germany, the concerts aim to bring artists and audiences together with a variety of backdrops and musical styles. François says he intends to “keep you guessing as to where we’ll travel each week; we’ll announce it as we continue on our journey.”

The first concert will be given by Veronika Lemishenko, principal harpist of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. François notes, “It goes without saying that Veronika’s concert is the only one of the series not to be filmed in her home country; she has done it on the road, as part of her European tour to raise funds for the Ukrainian war effort. We are indebted to our partners throughout the Jeudis de la Harpe series, Julien Hanck Productions/Arpeggio Films, for their immediate support to ensure that this recital could still happen. Now, more than ever, we are reminded that music is a symbol of collaboration and civilization.”
