    I will probably be teaching Vers La Source Dans Le Bois for the first time, and I have a question about Tournier’s notation:

    On page 3, in the right hand, he has slurs or ties between the 4th finger notes and it is not clear if the last note is played or tied. It is certainly easier to play it but if it is a slur, it should have been placed above the beam perhaps so it would not appear as a tie. On page 4 they are clearly slurs, so maybe it is an engraving error. I also assume the use of enharmonics anywhere it helps make the playing cleaner or the strings ring more. I know that Salzedo or Chalifoux edited the piece, but I don’t have those markings.

    Saul,
    This is a slur, but not tie. Look where the the slur starts! the ties start
    after the dotted note. It’s really a very tiny beat detail, but I am sure that you
    have to play it.

    Have you noticed the option of putting in a huge number of enharmonics so the hand shapes match really well?

    If you mean that passage, I would play in the right hand dadcad, ecedbe.

    Interesting- as the right hand has to play the same note up and down the first time I chose dadcad then ebedbe- easier for my brain!

    The real problem is the glissando up on page five, which appears to have the wrong pedals. To sound like harpists play it on recordings and have the next one come out right, it needs a d-sharp, c-flat, b-natural, e-flat, f-natural, g-flat, a-natural. (Why don’t we have harp notation available here). Then you make an f-sharp and d-flat for the next one.
