I was going through the Faure Impromptu once more. I’ve performed it in recitals twenty years ago. I’ve played it since, and in 1995 for Edna Phillips. And yet, I have discovered another telling detail. It is a bit mysterious how he indicates tempi in the piece, but I think he lays it out pretty clearly in the beginning. He starts out Allegro molto moderato
