    I am teaching Petite Suite by David Watkins. In several places, it has
    the symbol “H” before a wavy line, which I assume means p.d.l.t., but I
    can’t figure out what the “H” stands for. Is this symbol only found in
    David Watkins’ pieces, or is it used elsewhere?

    In my copy there is an asterisk beside the first H which says “To be played low in the strings”, so p.d.l.t. would be spot on.

    I’ve never seen this used anywhere else……

    I was taught low, but not as low as pdlt.

    My friend who studied with DW said the H is for “half as low” as pdlt. So between normal position and pdlt 🙂
