It’s hard to make out details from the pictures, this is an older harp, I think I want to take a look at it to get a better look.
I spoke to the woman selling this harp.
Not certain, but I think that may be a Pratt Dauphine (made by the father of the current Pratt harpmakers).
Here’s an old ad for the Dauphine: http://www.prattharps.com/DauphineAd.htm
WOW this could be a real find!!
It’s quite likely to cost considerably more than the harp is worth to make it playable, Deb. Just sayin’,
hi Barb.
Barb, just so you know, I didn’t ignore your advice, just didn’t read it until after I got the harp home!
Yeah, the wire loops/nails were challenging. They’re meant to dig into the neck and scrape a groove, incidentally. Glad it worked out for you, Deb.
thanks Barb.
maybe this is the place to ask my questions?
What a pretty harp, Deb.
Before you string it up, send the pictures you took to Mr. Pratt and ask about the crack in the knee block.
Barbara
I came across some harp maintenance articles by a harp technician with information about what kind of pictures can help a technician figure out what your harp needs in the way of repair:
Show me the harp!

Maybe some of that information will help you while you decide what your harp needs.
A lovely harp, if I do say!
thanks Zen.
