Help needed in finding schmatics for rebuilding an erard gothic soundbox

Hi everyone,

I am rebuilding my Erard Gothic 47 string pedal harp. Could anyone please help guide me where I could find proper tunning pins for my instruments. I would like guidance on schematics related to rebuilding the sound box. The sound box was not given to me and all I have is the neck and colum.

Could someone also let me know wether this instrument should be tunned at 440 htz.

Hallo Rufus,

to rebuild the soundbox will not give you back the harp at all.

Rebuild the harp shell will need a lot of prework and at last you need very much experience in building a round shell.

Ifen if you could manage this …the most hardest thing is still to do….this is called pedal box and the sizes you need to get all in function.

I do not believe that someone could guide you thru this process at a forum.
….this work is all so much specialised…it would fill abaout 4 years of lifetime.

In the UK there are a number of franken-harps made by combining the good parts from two or more harps- usually Erards.

I forgot tp tell you that I am an apprentice for a harp maker in Tasmania, Australia. We do make round harp shells. If I had pictures of the inside of an erard Gothic I’d have just no problems. I have replicated the pedal box from an erard pedal box that a friend has loned me.

I dont think it would take 4 years of my life.

Thanks Tacye,

It would have been nice if I could have found a matching gothic sound box. I could have been able to replicate it. You see I am an apprentice harp maker here in Tasmania.

It is very hard to find suited supplies for harps in Australia. I wish I was somewhere in Europe and I could source out a matching sound box for my Gothic.
