I have been playing pedal harp for a while now and my parents and I have decided to buy my own harp next year. I’m torn between these two harps and really looking for some help. I have done research comparing the two companies and still need help. I am looking for a rich resonent sound and a modern looking harp that will last a long time. The style 100 and the Salvi are my number 1 choices, but we are willing to look at some other options!

    Please Help!

I’d choose the L&H 100. The Venus Diplomat and and Swanson Scuola both has somebody have modern but fairly classic looks and are in the same price range. The Swanson you can get with gilding on the crown and around the base for a bit more, which would look quite nice against a darker finish.

I’m a big fan of the Style 100, but Lyon & Healy and Salvi both make superb instruments. Rather than choose on the basis of a manufacturer, style, or any other broad category, it is essential to try out individual instruments to see which one has the sound and feel that is right for you.

I bought a Salvi Daphne 47 EX in January.
