I was shocked to find that I own absolutely no copies of this lovely Christmas piece. There are a number of versions available at Melody’s. what is your favorite version and why?

Jennifer, Ray Pool has a nice arrangement in his “Carols from around the world” vol 1. You can hear Ray playing it on youtube. It’s easy to sight read.

    Jennifer,

I second the vote for Ray Pools version – it’s just beautiful.

I actually like the version in Daniel Burton’s lever harp Christmas books. Can’t remember whether it’s in volume 1 or 2.

Another good arrangement is in the Christmas Present book of carols by Whitney Dobyns. There are no lever/pedal changes.

As an aside, I think her version of In the Bleak Midwinter in Christmas Present is the best one I’ve found.

Those are all very nice! Though I have to say that my favorite version of In the Bleak Midwinter is by Sunita Staneslow 😉
