Caitlin Mehrtens is the newly appointed principal harp of both the Houston Grand Opera Orchestra and Houston Ballet Orchestra. “Being a part of such incredible productions is a dream come true,” Mehrtens says of her recent appointments. “I grew up in the pit because my mom is in the Philadelphia Ballet Orchestra, so I already feel right at home. In addition to the gems like Puccini and Tchaikovsky, I look forward to getting to know all kinds of new pieces!”

Mehrtens has served as harpist for the contemporary music ensemble Loop38 since 2017 and is the adjunct harp professor at the University of St. Thomas. Mehrtens studied under Paula Page, Yolanda Kondonassis, and Anne Sullivan. Learn more on her website.
