Abigail Kent has been appointed principal harpist of the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, following the retirement of Patricia Anderson. Kent was chosen from multiple candidates who were invited to work with the orchestra throughout the prior season. She will begin her position as the orchestra’s principal harpist in the 2022–2023 season.
Kent says she looks forward to performing with the musicians of the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra. She adds, “As a native of the Lowcountry of [South Carolina], I’m very honored to be able to return home and make music in a beautiful place.”
Kent has trained at the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Curtis Institute of Music, the Mannes School of Music, and the Juilliard School. She is currently harp faculty at the College of Charleston and was also faculty at the Brevard Music Center this summer.
