Emmanuel Ceysson has been named principal harpist with the LA Philharmonic following auditions that took place Sept. 29–Oct. 2 at Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. He will succeed Lou Anne Neill, who has been with the orchestra since 1983.
Ceysson has been principal harpist with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra since 2015. A native of France, he had previously been solo harpist with the Opéra National de Paris, where he was appointed at age 22. Ceysson held that position for 10 years before his move to New York. His many accolades as a solo harpist include first prizes from the USA International Harp Competition in 2004, the New York Young Concert Artist auditions in 2006, and the 2009 ARD Competition in Munich.
