Anna Dunlap wins Huntsville Symphony audition

May 4, 2020

Following an audition that was held on January 27, Anna Dunlap was named the new principal harpist with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra in Alabama.  “I am really looking forward to playing with Huntsville Symphony as their new principal harpist,” Dunlap shares. “The audition itself was really well organized and efficient throughout the entire process, making it feel as comfortable as something like this can.” The audition was held over two rounds, both conducted behind a screen. The position was previously held by Katherine Newman, who also teaches at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Dunlap was a winner of the American Harp Society’s Grandjany Memorial Competition in 2016 and was named a runner–up in the 2018 Anne Adams Awards Competition. Currently studying with Gillian Benet Sella at the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, she received her bachelor of music from the Eastman School of Music in 2018.
