As a new harpist, coming up on 6 months now :), I would love to get some recommendations for harpists to listen to and watch. Youtube links would be amazing so I could watch them play as I listen, but I would love album recommendations as well. There are SO many wonderful harpists out there and I don’t know who any of the ‘classics’ are, those that every harpist already knows but whose names to me are still unfamiliar!

    Thank you kindly!

For many, many enlightening and wonderful hours of looking at and listening to all kinds of harpers and harp music, just follow the links at: https://www.harfenforum.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3200&hilit=fundst%C3%BCcke

Yes, it’s a German Harp Forum, but you don’t need any knowledge of German to just click on the links.

Of course, we could start our own thread with links to amazing harp video’s here.

This is one of my favorites – History of the Harp hosted by Caitrin Finch:

Sasha Boldachev is an amazing harpist. Any video or recording of his is sublime.

Don’t forget Isabelle Moretti, my all-time favorite! Her La Source, by Hasselmans, is so beautiful! Her live concert at the Camac Festival last November was amazing!

Thank you Alison, absolutely wonderful! Had the pleasure of hearing him for the first time live at the harp convention this year in the Redlands. As a total newbie I had no idea what I was in for and I think I maybe took 2 breaths during the first 5 minutes he played, I was captivated.

When you are able to study or simply want to listen this is one of the most loveliest duos in the repertoire, so now I think Santa Barbara must be a fantastic place having twice got as far as LA and Santa Monica. https://youtu.be/6JdVBULKACg

Many times, when I try to find the link, it’s a blank space. I don’t know why. I have a relatively new LG phone & I do see the embedded YouTube vids, but could someone type in the German harp site, please?
