I played at a fairly large wedding late this afternoon with about 150 attending. Everything was great – even though the minister did Communion before the Unity candle lighting (lucky we were paying attention, we were told the order differently) – until my string broke in the middle of Amazing Grace during Communion. It was a very loud pop made louder by the amplifier. Well, it was probably loudest to me. Thankfully, I generally play weddings with my guitar partner so he was able to jump in and play something else. We were set up in the back corner of a huge room so I could make a string change prior to the recessional. I was dying a thousand deaths while this happened.

Ooooh. I had a wire break during a Xmas service once. It sounded like a gun going off. I just kept playing and avoided that string…and I pretended I didn’t hear a thing.
