I have Cerebral Palsy and have only one usable hand — my left hand. I would love to play a lap harp and need advice on what sort of harp I should be looking to purchase. I don’t want to spend a zillion dollars on my first harp, so please take that into consideration when you respond. Thank you for your advice.

There is a wonderful article in one of my old Folk Harp Journals by a one handed harpist.

If you’re looking for a small harp, then there are several small floor harps that you can look at.

Ron Price (founder of Healing Harps) worked with many one handed harpists. There are several solutions for holding the harp and plenty of ways to get around music with only one hand. When you have a harp and need some music to get started, let me know. I’ll see if I still have notes from when I worked with Ron.
