British Columbia has all that as well as the Pacific Ocean, but Vancouver’s housing market is very high-priced. There is a vibrant lever-harp community on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. We have various universities in the province, including UBC in Vancouver and U. of Victoria on Vancouver Island.
Washington State has some great places, too. The whole Pacific Northwest is lovely.

I lived in South Africa for a number of years – and while the country is riddled with crime – and has had a horrid past (apartheid)

How about Utah? It has lakes, mountains, NO sticky hot weather, environmentally aware cities, universities, cultural activities and L&H West located right here in Salt Lake City!

B.T.W… In Salt Lake City I am only 5 1/2 hours from from Las Vegas and we have a lot less rain than British Columbia (sorry Elizabeth!!!)

Louise, thank you for your input. I flew out to Bountiful a few months ago and fell in love with. I even wrote off to a few chambers for relocation information. I am LDS so that made it even more of a cool experience for me. I visited Logan, SLC, Sundance (rode the chair lift up) and went in the Bountiful Temple. I LOVED the climate even though it was a little dry. I was impressed with BYU and the entire Provo area. Yes, I need to look into this one some more. I am an avid hiker and love to ski. I know, too, that there is an active harp community in Utah.

Wow Brenda, sounds like “This is the place” (apologies to Brigham Young for borrowing his quote!) for you, especially if you like to hike and ski – from my house in downtown Salt Lake, it only takes me 40 mins to get up to Solitude Resort in Big Cottonwood Canyon, I can both ski AND get to rehearsal in the same day!

It sounds like you want Boulder, Colorado, any number of towns in Oregon or the Sierras in California, and no place has more lakes than Minnesota.
