ParticipantI could be a harp-playing housewife.
I’m feeling weary of my non-music-related job and daydream about being
able to stay home, take care of the house/husband/dog, and practice
harp when I’m not so tired that my eyes are crossing. Unfortunately,
that’s not going to happen anytime soon.I should be working but I’m thinking harp.
How about you?

ParticipantI’m with you! I have house/husband/two dogs/quilting and harp I’d rather be involved with. But without my job, I wouldn’t have the harp, so…

ParticipantAs little as the first of this year, I was dreading my retirement from being a public school speech therapist, something I have done for the last 35 or so years (except for 3 teaching music). Since I started harp lessons, I can’t wait for retirement to begin. I will have my own harp, my own hours, and my own household obligations. Yipee!

ParticipantHi Barbara. No, haven’t gotten My own harp yet. Hopefully, this summer…
Yesterday was the harp society recital. My present to myself was to stay home from work today. Practicing in the daytime is wonderful!
Nice to hear from you!

ParticipantAs a young harpist, I may not have a job, but I do have schoolwork. Sadly, it sometimes feels as if I can’t find any time for my instrument. Luckily I have parents who make me practice and achieve.
I’d love to have a music-related job, possibly a music therapist. Which music-related job would you like?
Much luck with your harpy-ness!

Participant…I was at the skill level to play all the music in The Harp of Brandiswhiere by Sylvia Woods. But I have a feeling when I do get to that level I’ll be wishing to be at an even higher one. Thus my mantra “Onward & Upward!”
I have set a goal for myself though. I plan on learning one song a week, alternating between my three stringed instruments: 33 string folk harp, 26 string wire harp, and 17/18 hammered dulcimer. And praying everyday for constancy…
