    Hi everyone!

I’ve been reviewing the repertoire that I play for gigs (pop/jazz/traditional), making slight improvements and also working to keep it all under my fingers.

    How are you doing?

We just got the Sound of Music medley by Robert Russell Bennett. Not the most interesting harp part I must say.

    Is this for your orchestra?

Why is it uninteresting? (Just curious..)

It’s for symphonic wind ensemble. It’s written more like a piano part to accompany the singers during rehearsal, which we don’t have anyway since it’s an instrumental arrangement. It’s all left/right, bass/chord, oom/pah. The left hand doubles the low brass and winds so and the right is almost all block chords in the first line of the clef on off beats.

I just completed making an arrangement for harp of the Sinfonia from Bach’s “Weihnachts-Oratorium.” It turned out great! I hope to make a You-Tube of it and post it soon. It’s based off of a reduction for organ I found on-line.

Nothing. Since you asked, that may give me the necessary kick in the pants. I am working on something, but on banjo.

Kay, that is so true. Mildred Dilling, First Lady of the Harp (In the full page photo in Musical America magazine many years ago) said, in a workshop I took with her in 1978: Don’t drop your pieces. She had just
