Softly and Tenderly

Will Lamartine Thompson’s classic hymn “Softly and Tenderly” appears here edited for solo pedal harp by Gretchen Chell Cover and transcribed by Basil Alter from Louise Trotter’s performance on her Sacred Treasures album. Reminiscent of parlor music with traditional harmonies, right-hand harmonics begin this stately arrangement which also interweaves Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.
