Barbara Ann Fackler has arranged the traditional African American spiritual “There Is a Balm in Gilead” for lever or pedal harp and solo instrument. Solo parts are included for violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet in B-flat, and horn in F. Piano may be substituted for the harp part, too. The most common hymnal key for this is F major; this setting is a whole step lower, in E-flat.
