Barbara Ann Fackler has arranged the traditional American folk song “House of the Rising Sun” for pedal harp, violin (or flute or oboe), and horn (or viola or cello). “Many Americans are unaware that ‘The House of the Rising Sun’ is an American folk song,” notes Fackler. “This popular tune was recorded by The Animals in 1964 and their version is listed as one of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s ‘500 songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.’ Versions of this tune from the early 1900s are found in Appalachia, Oklahoma and New Orleans.”
