Hi Jerusha,
I think that Vanderbilt Music/Eleanor Fell might be doing a remaster of Jack Nebergall’s recording AIN’T MISBEHAVIN’
At least that’s what memory tells me….but then again, I may need to up my medication again 🙂
David IceParticipantSaul,
Tim Guster of Belair, South Australia makes a lever harp that is nearly as tall as I am (6’2″) and has an outrageously HUGE sound and looks for all the world like a pedal harp.
David IceParticipantHi Catherine,
I remember well Jack Nebergall’s “Blue”.
David IceParticipantHi Dianne,
When I said that somehow I felt it might be “cheating” to practice with a recording, it was because it was drummed into my head by some very odd musicians (when I was a child) that even marking anything on your music was somehow “cheating”…i.e. if you were a real musician you didn’t need to mark fingering, circle clef changes, etc.
David IceParticipantHi Esmeralda,
I don’t really remember the exact moment…but I do remember you’re pretty much solo for 3 or 4 bars.
David IceParticipantHi Esmeralda,
What I’ve done occasionally (like Wagner’s RING CYCLE) is to get a first violin part and follow that during rehearsals/performance.
David IceParticipantHi Evangeline,
Just so you know, I played this piece years ago.
David IceParticipantAside from the no fingernails thing (which my dogs really notice as they always go immediately to visitors for “real” scratchies, I hate it when you get the blank stares when you tell people you play “harp” and they hear “heart.”
David IceParticipantHi Heather!
I did a harp arrangement in the original keys.
David IceParticipantI have mostly adult students, and what I’ve found that works is:
1) Get them to laugh–at you, and at themselves.
