The Harp Maker was a DELIGHTFUL book!! I got it from the library, then bought my own copy, which I leant to my harp instructor, so I can read it again. How I long to see and hear those harps!!

It has been reaffirming to read all your posts!! I’m still blessed with a day job as well and LOVE my time with my Celtic harp. However, progress in painfully slow. I really get down on myself sometimes for not making greater strides and wonder if my instructor feels her time could be used better in another way. She has given me several pieces to work on as well as a few to arrange (I like that challenge!!) but often find I just don’t enjoy some of the pieces. I have found some music on my own to work on and she often rolls with that. Anyway, even though playing for weddings and such are not in my future, I do find it very relaxing. Blessings to you all!!

Yes, you all were right!! It took no time at all to adjust to my lovely new harp!! I am absolutely delighted with it. I am giving my old 22-string harp to a neice who wants to learn to play but has neither funding nor room for a harp. Blessings, all!!

Thanks, all, for some great book recommendations!! I borrowed “Piano Lessons” from the library and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have “Busker” on order and hope it will be shipped soon. Another fascinating book, though not about amateurs, necessarily, is Oliver Sack’s “Musicophilia”. It’s an intriguing look at the interactions of music and the brain.
