Edward Witsenburg plays it on his brilliant album “Harp Music From Six Centuries”

Oh dear!! That’s going to come up in all the Google searches.

I am really surprised that a reputable company would do such a thing – unless there are underlying reasons for it which we don’t know about. If so, it would be interesting to hear them, because offhand I cannot think of anything to justify (what looks like) name hi-jacking.

Ironic that the wrongly-typed link led to a firm which handles intellectual-property rights!

Sorry, quick correction to my earlier post – I didn’t mean minims I meant crotchets (=quarter notes).

Carl, is there any chance you could post a link to your blog(s) on Dilling?

The tune is normally played in E minor, but of course you can choose any key you want on the harp, though remember it’s the dorian mode, which means the sixth is raised.

Alicia, the publishers of the Concert edition don’t mention any Salon edition in the catalogue pages of their website, so perhaps it’s out of print?

There is a trill – i.e. two adjacent rapidly-alternating strings – in the score to Zabel’s La Source, though it doesn’t sound like one because it’s one of those enharmonic D#-Eb ones that makes it into more of a mandolin-style tremolo.

It occurs right before the piece modulates into Ab for the middle section, and then again at the end, prior to the climb up to the final notes (you can gliss down from the top one instead if you feel like a bit of fun, though you’ll have to set the A# pedal).

Wooops (I can’t even type the damns things, never mind play them…)

The third pair of numbers, which read 2-3 above, should actually be 2-4.

PS: In his Method book, when speaking of double trills (i.e. in thirds, for example E and G opposite F and A) his fingering is

    2 – 1 , 2 – 1
    4 – 3 , 3 – 3

leaving the strings after each paired articulation.

Yes, I would not have believed it if I hadn’t seen it, up close in personal.

David Watkins uses wrist oscillation (probably as one technique among many at his command).

I’ve just seen this, which seems to be a new policy (story is dated 15th Feb).

Where are you based? I echo Harp Guy’s suggestion that you should also look at some secondhand ones, though be sure to get the teacher’s first-hand (i.e. she’s played it) opinion before making any commitment.

    > buy tracks directly from the artist, locate concert schedules, find new, unique indie music not offered by the monopolisitic companies

    > frequent blogging, etc. is really successful for musicians trying to build up a long term relationship with their fan base, create a following for their stage shows, sell CDs, etc.

All this is certainly true, but I still don’t understand why it can’t just be done through the person’s own website and its set of links (which is just Friends by another name).
