ParticipantI bought one like Andy’s from Va Harp Center. It had some very unfortunate name like “The Extra Heavy Duty Large Butt Model”, but it’s a terrific seat.
One of the few really good habits I’ve retained from years of choral singing and instrumental work is enough upper body strength to sit comfortably on a good backless seat for long periods of time, so this is just the ticket. It also folds flat and is very easy to carry.

ParticipantI use the easy-adjust folding bench…..I think it’s around $59 and I bought it from Melody’s. I also bought the backpack carrier that fits it (from Sylvia Woods, I think).
It’s the ONLY harp bench I take to gigs because I can wear the backpack and wheel a harp at the same time to schlep my stuff into the gig. It has pouches on the outside for strings and things.

ParticipantI use a drumtech seat for drummer. It is confortable, the height is adjustable and the price is correct : around 50 Euros.

ParticipantI use a TAMA Ergo-Rider drum throne. Make sure, whatever you get, that the seat will adjust to the height you need. My TAMA works great for my pedal harps, but is too tall for my lever harp.

ParticipantA lyre-back chair I bought for $5 when the old San Juan Hotel was closing its doors. Have to use a large pillow with it to play a 5′ 3″ 33-string Troubadour. (I’m just under 5′ 0″).

ParticipantSince I only play at home I pratice at my computer desk/office and use a Aeron chair and I never get tired sitting in it. Never. When I did gigs with my guitar and voice I would bring my own chair which had small of the back support and I could raise it higher for better

ParticipantHi Barbara, I just got one of these TAMA Ergo_Riders and I just love it! TAMA also came out with a back rest which I have on order. I hope that it will be helpfull with long practice sessions!

ParticipantI use the same one Dharon uses, and I also have the backpack carrying case for it from Sylvia Woods.
It is light. It can easily adjust height so I can use it with all my harps. Easy to transport, and surprisingly comfortable.
I also am not a fan of a back rest for a harp bench or chair. If you are using proper posture you shouldn’t need it.
Some day I may get one of those fancy, expensive harp benches, one that matches my pedal harp, just for use in my studio. But so far this one has worked wonderfully for me so I am not in any rush. And since my pedal harp is in an ebony finish the black bench blends in well enough.
