    I find that these jokes are usually attempted by people watching me
    wheel my concert grand to/from a gig (never while I’m playing).

    I don’t carry my harp around very much just yet, but I’m also the father of a young upright bass player and I DO wish she had taken up something smaller.

    As chief bass wrangler, my response to the piccolo question is to say:

    My usual response is that “well nobody ever said, ‘Oh, we’re getting married and we want a piccolo at our wedding!’ “
