KeymasterHi Everyone!
We’d love it if you’d start new forum posts on the new Harp Column website at musicstand.harpcolumn.com. We have a brand new forum there ready and waiting for you! In the short term, we’ll keep posting open here, but soon we’ll be merging the two sites. Please take a look and let us know what you think!

KeymasterAaron: Did you click the actual link in my last reply? (I just clicked it and it worked.) Remember, don’t type www. The url is simply: musicstand.harpcolumn.com.

ParticipantHi, Kim! I just posted a question on the Coffee Break forum on music stand, but I don’t see a “request notification” button there. Will that be added? It’s nice to know when you get a response.

KeymasterElizabeth: I’m not sure if Hugh has that planned but I will mention it. It would be helpful if you could post your request in the Website forum on the new site.
Thanks for posting!

ParticipantYes, I had clicked the actual link.
I did eventually manage to get in later, but it was slow as molasses. Probably just not good for those of us with slower connections.

KeymasterHi everyone!
Just a reminder that we have all new forums ready and waiting for you at http://musicstand.harpcolumn.com/. Browse over and take a look! We’d love it if you would start new discussions there, as we’ll be shutting this site down soon. (Don’t worry, all the current forums on this site will be archived, and you’ll be able to refer to them on the new site.)

ParticipantI hate to rain on anybody’s parade. But my first reaction, which I’m posting here for reasons that will be clear in a moment, is that I hate it. I am a computer caveman, and whenever anybody “upgrades” anything on my computer, it just means that everything has been moved around so I can’t find it and I have to learn all over again how to find my way around.
I can’t figure out how things are organized on the new site. Messages are placed on the home page and I can’t figure out what I’m supposed to click to see the rest of the message. Same for the various categories in the forums. I liked the fact that I can see the headings for all the threads under the forum title. I can’t do that on the new site, or at least I can’t figure out where everything is. The original site needed no explanation and is very user friendly. I have no idea how to find anything on the new site. I also am not in the slightest interested in hearing anybody’s uploaded tapes or videos. If you want that, go to youtube. I’m guessing this new site is modeled after Facebook, which I have never used and which doesn’t interest me in the slightest. I like the discussions on the current site, and I like being able to access them quickly and easily, and to see what has been posted on a thread. So I’m guessing that I will be disappearing from the harp column site.

KeymasterThanks for the feedback all. Carl, all I can say is things change! Look at it this way: you can still use JUST the forum section of the new site, without all the other bells and whistles. We think if you dive into everything we have going on, you will like what you see. But if it’s not for you, then so be it. Hugh is working daily on making everything as user friendly as possible, so if there’s anything specific you would like, just ask. There is an entire forum on the new site devoted to website feature requests.

ParticipantFor what it’s worth, I am working on coding up some additional features that will make the forums easier to use — sorting and filtering of posts, sticky threads, and so on. The overall goal is making things much easier to find in the forums, like they already are with pieces and performances. I also have on the list adding email notifications and a nice site-wide search feature.
Unfortunately I am only One Dude who is doing this in his spare time… so I hope you guys will be patient with me as I roll out these new features!
