Just a few thoughts about concert tension.

What was it about the sound that you didn’t like?

    #155212

Well, this is only to MY ear……and since it’s mine, I reckon I’m entitled to have this opinion, so I’m not here to start any sort of argument or negative discussions. I just hear a twang in them that I very much dislike, and it goes with the lower tension than I like. Please don’t let’s argue about it though, okay? It’s just my feelings.

Maybe so, but I know that the brass eyelets DO break and need to be replaced. So perhaps it doesn’t have anything to do with the tension, but the small harps I have played that have them have light tension.

Brass eyelets can break, but not that often on a good quality instrument and they should be pretty easy to replace- my Clarsach has pedal tension, is about 21 years old and has broken 1/34 and my pedal harp none in 11 years.

Hi, Carian: Just thought I’d throw in my recommendation for renting to start as well. When you’re starting out, your teacher will be of immense help in ensuring you are using proper posture, hand position, etc, so that youwill reduce your chances of aggravating your

I hope you weren’t thinking that I was among those who were going to argue with you.

I think that in an”amateurs forum” everyone should be free to express his own opinion without being criticized in a so acid way.
Anyway, I said that Ravenna has a “nice” sound (not a wonderful, astonishing, stunning sound, and so on). I “raved” about its portability because the answer was for a beginner who is also a tiny person. But I also made clear that Ravenna is a cheap instrument, while Salvi Prima’s quality -for example- is out of discussion.
However, I agree with Briggsie, who quotes an ancient latin proverb: unicuique suum, “to each his own”. Good luck!

    Greetings all.

    My first post here.

    #155219

I’m sure you can request full levers on the Dreamweaver.

    #155220

No Jer…..I didn’t mean you. Sometimes on here though, when an opinion is stated, some people get all worked up. For sure not you….not at all, and I’m sorry if I worded it that way.

I spoke to David at Heartland today, a lovely man.

How much extra is it for full levers?

I’m going to Somerset too, I’ll have to watch for you and your wife!

Alan, Just a suggestion. Go to the Heartland exhibit early. It was packed the whole time we were there last year. You’ll know why when you see it!
