Emily Levin Wins Santa Fe Opera

Emily Levin is the new Principal Harpist with the Santa Fe Opera.
August 26, 2015

Emily Levin is the new Principal Harpist with the Santa Fe Opera summer festival, following an audition that took place on Aug. 24 and 25, 2015. She will fill the vacancy left by Danis Kelly, who announced her retirement in June.

The audition was comprised of three rounds. “Although auditions are always stressful,” said Levin, “the people at SFO, both the committee and everyone running the audition, made it so enjoyable. I was blown away by how friendly and warm everyone was. It’s really an honor to be joining an opera orchestra with such a rich history and such talented musicians. Danis Kelly was here for over 40 years, and I know I have big shoes to fill, but I’m so excited to make music with such wonderful people and musicians.”

Levin recently graduated from Juilliard with a Master of Music degree and will return there this fall to pursue a DMA. She attended Tanglewood Music Center over the summer. She begins her post in Santa Fe next summer with a season that includes Strauss’s Capriccio, Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette, and Barber’s Vanessa.
