USAIHC announces repertoire for 2022 competition

The USA International Harp Competition has announced repertoire and is accepting applications for its 12th contest, which will take place June 29–July 9, 2022. The competition takes place every three years in Bloomington, Ind. and is open to harpists of all nationalities between the ages of 18 and 32 as of May 15, 2022.

Stage 1

  • Mouvement, by Andrea Marescotti
  • Choose one:
    Sérénade, op. 83
    , by Elias Parish Alvars
    Sicilienne variée, by Jean-Michel Damase
  • Choose one:
    “Spanish Dance No. 1” from La Vida Breve, by Manuel de Falla (any edition)
    Jeux d’eau, by Carlos Salzedo

Stage 2

  • Choose one:
    Deux Divertissements
    , by André Caplet
    Sonata for Harp, by Pierick Houdy
  • Ode to the Harp (To obtain music, email: publication@natra.xyz), by Sergiu Natra
  • Un Sospiro, by Franz Liszt/H. Renié

Stage 3

A free choice program of 40 minutes to include:

  • the winning selection of the 7th USAIHC Ruth Inglefield Composition Contest (max. 8 minutes)
  • one selection from the Baroque period (any length, any edition)

Stage 4

  • Concertstück, op. 39, by Gabriel Pierné
  • Free choice encore solo to be played after the concerto (max. 8 minutes)
