The Orchestre Philharmonique du Québec has appointed Honoka Shoji principal harpist, effective Oct. 1. Shoji replaces Annabelle Renzo in this role. “I am looking forward to growing both musically and personally in my new role with the Orchestre Philharmonique du Quebec,” Shoji says. “It is truly an honor and delight to be a part of this orchestra that makes music accessible to all audiences, and I am incredibly grateful to all my teachers and coaches who have fostered my love for the harp in an orchestral setting.”

Shoji made her Carnegie Hall solo debut at age 17. She is pursuing an undergraduate degree in harp performance at McGill University in Montréal, Quebec. Shoji is a student of Jennifer Swartz, the principal harpist of the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal. Shoji also studied with Miya Otake at the Vancouver Academy of Music.
