Atlanta Symphony Orchestra principal harpist Elisabeth Remy Johnson is a recipient of a New Music USA Creator Development Fund award. The support will fund Estrelas, a new solo harp work by composer Clarice Assad, performed with projections by visual artist Xuan. Using archival images of the female “computers” at Harvard Observatory over 100 years ago, and modern-day research of astropartical physicist Dr. Angela Olinto, the project will illuminate and celebrate the roles of women in astrophysics.

Remy Johnson has previously done projects that celebrate women through music. Check out our CD review of Quest, her project celebrating women composers. To learn more about Remy Johnson, visit her website.
