April 14, 2020

The Peabody Institute has announced that June Han will be added to their faculty roster beginning this fall. “I am very thrilled to join the stellar faculty at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University this fall,” Han shares. “I look forward to building a studio of aspiring young harpists, helping them strengthen their talent and musicianship and achieving their goals whatever they might be.” An experienced educator, she is currently on the faculties of Yale University, Columbia University, the Juilliard School Pre–College, and Bowdoin International Music Festival, in addition to Harp Column Academy’s roster of master teachers. Reflecting on her teaching philosophy, she says, “It needs to be teamwork between the students and I, based on my values in life: hard work, dedication, integrity, humility, respect, trust, and the promise to give 150%.”

Han is an active chamber and contemporary musician, performing with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Speculum Musicae, Manhattan Sinfonietta, Bronx Art Ensemble, Music from Japan, the Group for Contemporary Music, Sequitur Ensemble, Ensemble 21, Mabou Mines, Alarm Will Sound, Talea Ensemble, and Jupiter Chamber Players. As an orchestral harpist, she frequently performs with the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, and the Metropolitan Opera. Han holds a Premier Prix in harp and chamber music from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, a Master of Music and Artist Diploma from the Yale School of Music, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The Juilliard School.
