The Arena di Verona Orchestra has appointed Valerio Lisci principal harpist. “I’m really happy to have won this position,” Lisci says. “The orchestra has a prestigious summer festival, held in the Roman arena of the city [of Verona, Italy]. It also performs during the rest of the year in the Teatro Filarmonico, both operas and symphonic programs. Every year [the Arena] brings audiences from all over the world and [high-caliber] artists, musicians, and singers as well.”

Lisci says he looks forward to working with the other musicians at the Arena di Verona. The Italian harpist adds, “Of course another important aspect for me is to be able to live more in my country; and Verona is just one of the most beautiful cities ever—that really affects my spirit and my artistic mood.”

Lisci won the silver medal at the 11th USA International Harp Competition in 2019, where he also received the special prize for the performance of a contemporary piece. Since October 2022, Lisci has held the position of principal harp at the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva. He holds two Master of Arts degrees from the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne, studying with Letizia Belmondo. He also studied with Gabriella Bosio at the Turin Conservatory.
