Greta Asgeirsson joins Air Force Band

Greta Asgeirsson is the new Principal Harp with the United States Air Force Concert Band.

Greta Asgeirsson is the new Principal Harp with the United States Air Force Concert Band, a position formerly held by Eric Sabatino. Asgeirsson joined the band in June, 2016, after two months of basic training. “I’ve always enjoyed bands and have a history in them,” says Asgeirsson in an interview with the band’s Technical Sgt. Kaitlin Taylor. “My father is, and my grandfather was, the director of a community band so I had been involved in bands since I could walk, whether it was moving equipment, or eventually playing.

Asgeirsson attended Boston University for her undergraduate studies, where she studied with Ann Hobson Pilot and Jessica Zhou. She received her Master of Music degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts studying with Sarrah Bullen. While in Chicago she was a member of the Chicago Civic Orchestra.
