The Glowing Harp Festival, scheduled to take place this April, has been canceled as a result of COVID-19. As a substitute, the festival will livestream a concert on Instagram on April 10. Dubbed the Glowing Harp Marathon, harpists such as Isabelle Moretti, Anaïs Gaudemard, Sylvain Blassel, Lenka Petrović, Alina Bzhezhinska, and Elisabeth Plank will perform for the livestream.  Veronika Lemishenko, artistic director of the festival and competition, shares, “Many countries have moments each day where people express their appreciation to the doctors, nurses, emergency workers, police, supermarket staff—everybody who is providing healthcare and keeping the infrastructure going throughout the crisis. We want to create a harp moment of thanks.”

Harpists interested in participating are asked to record a video of the piece they would like to perform and submit by April 7th. Performers are encouraged to get creative with their harp submissions; the recording can be a cadenza, an orchestral excerpt, an original composition, a classical solo, a traditional tune, etc. The performance order will be published on April 8th.
