The Debussy Trio received the 2017 Centennial Chamber Music Award from the National Federation of Music Clubs.

The Debussy Trio has received the 2017 National Federation of Music Clubs Centennial Chamber Music Award and $1,000 prize. The Federation—which includes 6,500 music clubs and organizations throughout the U.S.—called the trio’s latest recording Three by Three “exemplary” and acknowledged the ensemble’s “innovative approach to presenting chamber music with wide audience appeal” and “high standard of excellence for the performance of American Music.” The biennial award recognizes professional chamber music ensembles that promote American music through commercial recordings. Three by Three includes works by composers Bruce Broughton, Don Davis, and David Evan Thomas.

“We are so happy that our CD was recognized by the NFMC,” says Debussy Trio founder Marcia Dickstein. “It contains recordings of three new pieces for flute, viola, and harp and is our eighth CD of new works for the trio. Most importantly, we hope it is an inspiration for other harpists to continue commissioning and performing new music!”

Harp Column featured the Debussy Trio in our March-April 1996 issue, and again in a feature article celebrating the ensemble’s 25th anniversary. Find out more about the group at debussytrio.com.
